A quick look at the essentials

In this issue of A coffee with an expert in International TradeWilmer, a Bolivian expert in international trade, consulting and teaching, participated in the interview. During the interview, key topics discussed included the current situation of foreign trade in Bolivia, trade opportunities with Colombia and trends in Bolivian exports.

Wilmer pointed out that Bolivia's trade balance is currently in deficit, due to the country's historical dependence on the export of natural resources such as gas, minerals and lithium. However, there has been a progressive diversification of exports, with growth in products such as meat, precious stones (especially the bolivianita) and superfoods such as quinoa, amaranth and maca.

Regarding trade relations with Colombia, he highlighted the exchange of agricultural products, especially soybeans, as well as the potential for expansion in other sectors. Wilmer emphasized that Bolivia, due to its geographic and climatic diversity, has an interesting exportable supply that can generate new business opportunities in international markets.

Finally, the interview underscored the importance of strengthening trade relations between Bolivia and Colombia, as well as exploring new markets, highlighting the key role of productive diversification and business internationalization in the economic growth of both countries.
